What an amazing discovery I have made during this lockdown, completely apt on this very special “WORLD CYCLE DAY” and an inspiration for generations to come. It is a very good Gujarati book – “Pedal Par Purthvi ni Parikrama” by Mahendra Desai and a true story of how six young men, JAL BAPASOLA RUSTOM BHUMGARA ADI HAKIM KEKI POCHKHANAWALLA GUSTAD HATHIRAM NARIMAN KAPADIA Members of Bombay Weightlifting Club, living on a shoestring budget set off on their bicycles on 15th October 1923 on a Globe Tour to cycle around the world. This is a story of how young Indian men set an example of Endurance, Courage and Character for generations to come. More than that it is a story of unending dedication for the pride of India, and of strong determination and perseverance. They wanted to take India to the World and spread the word about India, they wanted to show to the world that Indians can achieve something inspite of being ruled by the British. Eventually after over 4 Years, in March 1928 71000 kms Through 29 countries and 4 continents Jal Bapasola, Rustom Bhumgara & Adi Kakim completed their Tour. Had this been achieved in any western country I am sure monuments would have been named after them and statues would be built, but these men never had such an ambition. They did this only for their motherland – India. We salute their feat, and dedication… And I suggest all to read their true story of adventure and endurance.. Also available of amazon – With Cyclists around the World by Adi Hakim, Rustom Bhumgara & Jal P Bapasola Insipried by Shalvi Shah
