As L.D Engineering completes its 75 years of existence, it makes me realize the substantial role the college has played in my life. My personality and character have been moulded by the cultural, social, and academic experiences at L.D. The vastness of the campus, the warmth of the people, and the reverence of its legacy makes the college feel like home. L.D has given me my career, the best network of people, and friends that turned into family. The fact that L.D is completing 75 years with 75 years of India’s independence is not merely a coincidence but destiny.
After completing my tenure as General Secretary in 1990, life gave me the opportunity to contribute to the establishment of L.D Engineering college of Alumni Association (LAA). It fills my heart to see that LAA evolved to be a global and magnanimous network.
The completion of 75 years, gives us the sacred opportunity to envision what L.D will be at 100. A college that still takes 1500 Rs a year as student fees and educates 1000s deserves our attention, respect, and efforts.
માણસ પોતાની જિંદગી માં ૩ વસ્તુ - જગ્યાઓ ના ઋણ નથી ચૂકવી શકતો.
૧. જે માતા ની કુખે જન્મ લીધો.
૨. જે માતૃભૂમિ માં જન્મ લીધો.
૩. જે માતૃસંસ્થા માં અભ્યાસ કર્યો.
L D Engineering કોલેજે માત્ર મને ભણાવ્યો નથી, પણ ભણતર ની સાથે એક ઘડતર પણ આપ્યું છે. આજીવન સંભારણા લઇ શકાય એવા મિત્રો, એવા સંસ્મરણો આપ્યા છે. એટલી સંબંધો ની મૂડી આપી છે, જેનો જિંદગીભર હું ઋણ નહિ ચૂકવી શકું. L D માંથી વિદ્યાર્થી જયારે અભ્યાસ પૂર્ણ કરી ને બહાર આવે ત્યારે એ સંપૂર્ણ પેકેજ તરીકે બહાર આવે છે; જે આત્મવિશ્વાસ થી દુનિયા ની કોઈ પણ ચેલેન્જ સ્વીકારવા ને માટે તૈયાર હોય છે. તે ભણવા ની સાથે સાથે ઇત્તર પ્રવૃત્તિ માં, રમત-ગમત માં અને સૌથી મહત્વપૂર્ણ Leadership માં એ નિપુણ થાય છે. Leadership માત્ર રાજકારણ માં જ નહિ, પણ વ્યાપાર-સંસ્થા માં, ધંધા - વ્યવસાય માં દરેક જગ્યા એ. Leadership ની જો ખરેખર ગંગોત્રી કહેવાય; તો હું એમ કહીશ કે તે L D Engineering છે, આવો આપણે સહુ સાથે મળી ને , L D Engineering ને એક નવા આયામ પર લઇ જઈએ. આઝાદી ના અમ્રિત મહોત્સવ સાથે જે ૭૫ વર્ષ આજે થયા છે, પણ ૧૦૦ વર્ષે L D Engineering કોલેજ કેવી હશે! એના આપણે સહુ સાથે મળી ને અલગ ઊંચાઈ પર લઇ જવાના પ્રયત્ન કરીએ.
