In the vast tapestry of India, cricket emerges not just as a sport but as a unifying force, often referred to as a religion. While football may be the fervent devotion in Brazil, the crowd of cricket fans in Uttar Pradesh alone may surpass the population of the entire South American nation. The Indian cricket team, a microcosm of India's rich diversity, stands as a representative of a sixth of the world's population. From the bustling city of Mumbai comes Rohit Sharma, while Shreyas Iyer, with roots in Kerala, proudly hails from Maharashtra. K L Rahul, a Mangalorean, shares the team with Hardik Pandya, a proud Gujarati. Surya Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav bring the essence of Uttar Pradesh to the squad. R Ashwin epitomizes Tamil Nadu, while Gujarat claims Ravindra Jadeja. Mohammed Siraj represents Telangana, and Mohammad Shami is from Uttar Pradesh.
